Hello Generation Church Fam,
It's always a pleasure to sit down and share with you the exciting things happening in our growing church plant. 2022 held so many of our firsts. From our first building to our first baptism. As the new year starts we think of resolutions and lofty goals. At Generation Church we are focusing on consistent outreach. Just two words but full of so much depth, responsibility and meaning. We want to see new life in Christ. We know God can do it and will be looking to Reach, Reconcile and Restore our community, our generation, with His help.
Please sit back and enjoy the journey through the last few months of 2022 and what we are looking forward to and praying over for the first few months of 2023.
In September we celebrated our first anniversary of gathering every Sunday. This may seem like a small task since this is expected out of a fully functioning church. But man oh man it is a lot of work. We all have a new appreciation for the behind-the-scenes work done each week to keep church going seamlessly every Sunday morning. We can affirm that the hard work is worth it. It is worth getting to see our church family each and every week. It is worth it to draw closer to each other as we work together. We get to see God at work every Sunday without fail. We have seen our church family grow in ways we did not expect and we are building a community with the same love for Jesus and the same heart for this community. After over a year of hard work each week, we can say with confidence Jesus is worth it. He is enough.
In November we held our first church wide Vision Night. This was a special evening where we were able to share with regular church attendees our church's story, heart and where we feel God is leading us. It was a special time of fellowship and invitation to join us in our calling.
December Luminarias: For those of you who are not from Farmington, the Luminarias are an annual event at San Juan College where thousands of candles are lit in brown bags and placed all around the college campus celebrating Christmas time in the Four Corners region and showcasing various programs at SJC. Since we are located across the street we invited family and friends and community members to come and share a meal of Frito pies with us and grab a hot drink and walk through the luminaries together.
We have a sign: Drive by and check out our new sign. We are now easier to find and more visible to road traffic and potential guests!!
We held our third annual Christmas Adam service (Dec 23rd): This was a beautiful night of reading scriptures and singing worship songs with a candle-lighting ceremony. We read passages from the Old Testament and the New Testament that spanned the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus. We had so many visitors that night that we hit 80% capacity, which was the highest number of guests we have ever had. God is faithful!
Prayer request for the beginning of 2023: We are in the process of finalizing our strategy for outreach and evangelism for 2023. We have been blessed with a great space. It's near the college campus, dorms and also a flourishing neighborhood. It's made up of different life stages and situations but we have found they all share one thing in common. They all need Jesus! In order to be most effective we understand we need good plans but even more, a supernatural movement of God. We need your prayers. As we have learned, the "build it and they will come'' model hasn't taken off. So we are seeking out the Lord's leading and direction to be effective. Getting on campus in 2022 posed quite a challenge. Although we are working with our many contacts on campus, we have plans to hand out encouragement boxes at the beginning of the spring semester. We pray that we will be able to have gospel conversations through these boxes and make contacts with those that are searching for meaning and purpose. And we also have other plans that need to be fleshed out to reach the homes and families in and around our location. Our desire continues to be both a blessing and lighthouse as we share the hope of Jesus with our neighbors. We covet your prayers and we appreciate each one of you.
Ways to support us: Pray, reach out, please come visit or donate. You are always welcome to come join us one Sunday morning at 11:07am or Wednesday nights at 7pm at 5150 College Blvd Ste 202, Farmington NM, 87402. Send family or friends who you think would be a good fit for Generation Church. We don't have words to explain how much yall mean to us. You love us so well!
Bendiciones (blessings),
Generation Church
